Alloy 20Mo-6 is an austenitic, nonmagnetic stainless steel grade. This material is highly alloyed. Essentially, the chemical composition of this alloy is similar to carpenter 20. This alloy is a result of some degree of modification to carpenter 20, with regards to its chemistry. Moreover, the UNS N08026 Nickel Alloy Pipe is required to undergo some alterations in its processing as well. The alteration in its processing and in its chemistry enhances the work hardening response of alloy 20Mo-6. By adding molybdenum to its alloy, the material sees a significant improvement in its properties. Primarily, the properties such as resistance to pitting as well as crevice corrosion escalates with the addition of molybdenum. Because the material is highly alloyed, the inherent properties of this particular stainless steel increase proportionally.

In terms of its tensile properties, the tensile strength properties of the UNS N08026 20Mo-6 Nickel Alloy Pipe is valued at an ultra high 1930 MPa. Similar to most austenitic stainless steel alloys, grade 20Mo-6 has characteristically superior ductility and it could be easily formed into pipes of different shapes. Being a nickel alloy, the heat resistance properties of this alloy is much better than conventional steels. A combination of impressive properties including superior corrosion resistance, the ASTM B729 UNS N08036 Pipe could be used for applications where the feature of highly aggressive corrosive media is a feature. Despite having high resistance to elevated temperatures, certain specifications, like the ASTM B729 permit the components to be used in low temperature settings as well. Yet, the ASTM B729 UNS N08026 Seamless Pipe is required to undergo a series of tests, while also conforming to its chemical requirements. This nickel based alloy is a material which exhibits high tensile strength. The high strength of the ASTM B468 UNS N08026 Welded Pipe is often attributed to cold working the alloy. In fact, in a cold-worked condition, most buyers prefer using this particular stainless steel alloy because the 20Mo-6HS Nickel Alloy Pipe tends to retain its properties. For instance properties such as excellent resistance to environmental cracking, resistance to chloride-induced pitting as well as resistance to crevice corrosion is noted in its cold worked condition.
